Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s art has captivated the world for decades. His immersion into the theatrical and decadent nightlife of 19th century Paris influenced his creation of a wealth of prominent and iconic works.
To celebrate these works, the exhibition called Toulouse-Lautrec & His World came to America for the first time, and the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls is one of only four stops around the country.
The exhibition took place January 25th through June 8th, and was held in the Everist Gallery of the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion. Regularly hosted at the Herakleidon Museum in Athens, Greece, this extensive collection of over 150 original works, including 12 of his famous posters and 35 sketches is traveling outside of Europe for the first time.
Toulouse-Lautrec & His World features one of the most fascinating artists and personalities of the Belle Epoque (Beautiful Era) in France, which lasted from the late 19th century through World War I.
